Image named) but it ended up booting it anyway (after 50 seconds) since it was my default image. During the startup sequence it freaks out and kernel panics, trying to look for "device 802", whatever the heck that is. I don't know where it got that from since I had rebooted, etc, the previous day where it looked for "device /dev/sda2". So it shows a bunch of "kernel panic" lines and comes to a halt.Anyway, I manually had to power down my laptop and I put in a LiveCD (Knoppix), it still wouldn't let me type with my keyboard, so I had to manually power down again. I tried the Arch LiveUSB image. Still nothing. I tried everything I could think of. I can't even hit the F9, F10, etc, keys during laptop start to enter my BIOS. I noticed a weird delay that I never had before. Usually when I start my laptop it would show the Hewlett-Packard BIOS Help screen immediately, but during that first morning when things went awry, it delays about 10-15 whole seconds before showing the HP screen.SO, my question is... does it seem like my laptop had a hardware failure? Or do you think my MBR was seriously 'harmed' somehow? I can't access any log files seeing as I can't TYPE anything on that laptop. So, I'm kind of screwed when it comes to providing detail. I've had this laptop about 8 months, new w/o box, or so they say.. I may end up. Why does my HP laptop have a black line on the screen? Why there is horizontal green line on my laptop screen

#1 Folks, I am trying to record video courses using PowerPoint and OBS 25.0.8 only records the top 70% of my screen, that is it misses about two lines of PowerPoint, how do I overcome this? #2 Sorry if too basic, but have you tried resizing the frame your Powerpoint is in? My guess is that your PPT is not the same screen ratio as your OBS canvas, right? 1920x1800 is a 1080p canvas, and 1920x1200 is a typical computer monitor...and that seems like about 2 lines? #3 I have googled extensively and do not understand what you mean above. How do I resize the frame my PowerPoint is in? #4 sorry so long for the reply. In OBS, I assume you added a "window capture" source or some such to get Powerpoint into your streamcast. Or you're capturing an entire monitor using "Display Capture".Below is my OBS preview with a captured Powerpoint window that is a different proportion (On Screen Show 16:10...a typical laptop screen proportion) than my OBS canvas (16:9...typical HD monitor/projector proportions)Notice at the bottom, there are red handles at the edge of the green outline of my window source. Now scroll down past this to see the solution. There would be a similar issue if the powerpoint were built in a "On Screen Show 4:3"...and even more would be cut off on the bottom. See the zebra stripes on the bottom? that means there's excess image that's not being shown. I took the bottom handle and resized the window capture frame so it fits inside myOBS canvas/preview window. Below is the result. Everything fits in OBS, and there are black bars at the sides (which can be fixed)The alternative to this is to build your Powerpoint in view...On Screen Show 16:9 or "widescreen" size. Let me know if that helps or not. I'll try to check in more frequently. #5 Thanks a lot, that works!

You can definitively confirm the fault by running a screen diagnostic - hold D through powerup. If the fault appears on the test screens (it almost certainly will), the screen must be replaced. If it does not (small chance) then the GPU is the problem, and it's the mainboard you will need to replace. The display panel needs to be replaced. is there not any other solutions or is ti only this one ?The "flex" testing is not part of our LCD panel troubleshooting path. As far as I know, LCD panel flex testing is only done by our laptop manufacturer on the build lines prior to Dell ever receiving the laptop.
