Among the Sleep is a completely unique horror game with a twist - it is played from the perspective of a two-year-old toddler. It's dark unsettling and genuinely creepy perhaps how a toddler really sees the dark of nighttime. One Friend Lots of ShadowsAmong the Sleep is ultimately a first-person exploration game. Taking control of a toddler who can crawl or briefly walk around his environment the player is also accompanied by a friendly talking teddy bear. When the surreal settings become darker hugging teddy can light the way for a short period of time. Throughout the adventure the player is pursued by two unknown characters - a creepy lullaby-singing lady and a shadowy figure wearing a trenchcoat. There is no way to beat these enemies the aim is to simply survive and find the way home to the toddler's troubled mother.Genuinely Unsettling Yet Undeniably UnmissableAs a horror adventure Among the Sleep is unsettling and vivdly tense. The concept and the settings are strangely beautiful yet overbearingly frightening. The story is troubling and heartbreaking and while playing the part of a two-year-old it really does feel like the only light in the world comes from Teddy. You play as a toddler whose warped into a crazy Alice in Wonderland type world along with a teddy bear and on the way of trying to get back home, you are stalked by two savage monsters, one starring in this pic.I deeply recommend it. It has a dark atmosphere and an incredibly great story with a few twists at the end. Think of it as a really dark episode of the Rugrats. This pic is based on the game over sequence when the lady from the lake catches you. She pretty much grabs and lifts you up while screaming it in a distorted way, but I thought of a better way. Who was the last character you played in a horror game? Chances are, even if they weren't a laser-toting space marine, they were probably at least an adult, and thus physically capable of basic tasks and defense. But in Krillbite Studios' indie adventure game Among the Sleep, you're just a toddler... and you're all alone. Late at night after your second birthday, when you received a very special teddy bear, you're awoken by something... strange. You don't know what's happening or what's wrong, but you do know you want your mother, who has always made everything all better. Too bad you can't find her. The deeper you go into the house and what lies beyond, the more you'll begin to question what you're seeing and hearing. After all, you're just a little kid, and everyone knows little kids have overactive imaginations... right? With subtle storytelling and thick, surreal atmosphere and imagery, Krillbite Studios has created an adventure that's at once one of the most magical and most terrifying games I've played in a long time. Among the Sleep sort of controls like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but for babies. Which is to say, it's physics-based action adventure from a baby's perspective. You use [WASD] to move around, holding [shift] to run or alternating between walking and crawling with [CTRL], and climb with the [spacebar]. Being only two years old, you're not very big, and simple things like opening a door represent unexpected challenges. You can manipulate almost everything by clicking and dragging on it to move it around, which can let you, say, drag a chair over to the wall and climb on top of it to reach the doorknob, or pull out drawers to use as steps to reach higher ground. If you're holding an object, you can toss it by right-clicking. If you're some place dark, you can hit [F] to hold Teddy, and he'll emit light for you to see by. To Unity and recreated everything we had made in a fraction of the time. Unity was used for the entire production after that point.A while into the project we started discussing the possibility of turning the demo into a full game, and starting our own company alongside it. Most of the group joined in this endeavour. A few declined, but we recruited other friends from class to fill their place. Later on, we were also joined by Martin, our sound guy.After graduating and forming a company, we took a fresh look at our concept. What kind of game did we want to create? The initial thought was horror, but we dabbled for some time with the idea of Teddy as a more powerful companion, with ways to overcome or neutralize enemies with a range of abilities. At this point, the game looked more like an adventure game than horror.ObjectsThere were many ideas for the Among the Sleep universe, most of them dreamlike and bizzare, but the first journey we started creating went through a large and open world. It began by exiting the home through the basement and coming out to a frest path, ending up in a bright and sunny meadow.After the comfort of the warm meadow followed a dark and hostile forest, where the child and Teddy would have to use glowing mushrooms as both shelter and flashlights against the light-sensitive monkey-like creatures (dubbed "Monkreatures") hunting them.Game assetsUnderneath the forest was an underground cave system, made (and inhabited)

David is the main protagonist of the 2012 indie first-person psychological horror game Among the Sleep.Biography[]In the 1990s, David celebrates his second birthday with his mother, when a visitor (implied to be David's deadbeat father Justin) at the front door drops off a parcel. Zoey carries David and the gift upstairs to the child's room, a place of bright, warm colors and streaming sunlight.Zoey briefly opens the gift, but looks at what is inside with a disdainful expression before quickly shutting the gift box. Before the present is given to David, the telephone rings, and Zoey leaves David in the bedroom to play alone. The gift is revealed to be a sentient teddy bear, who climbs out of the box and hides in the chest until David finds him.The bear introduces himself as Teddy. Teddy has a friendly, curious nature. After a few minutes playing together, they go into the closet, which turns out to be a large, dark room filled with long, dark coats. Teddy says that if David gets scared in the dark, he can hug Teddy to feel more safe.Once David holds Teddy, he lights the way, acting like a flashlight. The small adventure is ended by Zoey finding them; she tells David, gently but ominously, to stop hiding from her and puts him to bed.By the end of the game, David finds his mother drunk on the kitchen floor as she holds Teddy. When David goes to grab Teddy, Zoey pushes him away and yells. David then takes Teddy and hears someone at the door, so he goes to open the door and finds his father, who presumabely gets custody of David.
