New 13 Jun 2015 #1 Why do I have to select the Windows Boot Manager in the BIOS to boot? Since I was having some issues with my system, I just reinstalled W7 from scratched on my SSD. With this new install I decided to go the AHCI, UEFI, GPT route instead of MBR and IDE like on my previous install.Everything installed smoothly. I took a look at my BIOS setting and I can see in my Boot options that my #1 boot option is set to "Windows Boot Manager". My SSD is #2 and my DVD drive is #3. I only have one system installed (W7) so I'm not dual booting. When I change the boot order and set my SSD as #1, my computer won't boot and tells to select a drive with a bootable system. "Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press any key"Is this normal behavior?? If not, how do I fix this? Thanks New 13 Jun 2015 #2 When you reinstalled Windows you should have disconnected the other drives and leave only your SSD connected as now you have your boot files on the other hard drive so either reinstall Windows disconnecting the other hard drives and reconnect when you're done or follow the suggestions in this threadI need to move the boot files of win7x64 New 13 Jun 2015 #3 When I reinstalled Windows, only my SSD was connected, that's why I don't understand why I have this Windows Boot Manager showing up. There is only one OS present in msconfig /boot. New 13 Jun 2015 #4 Post a screen capture of a full screen Disk Management window with fields expanded to show all information. Not in the case of Microsoft. About six weeks ago, when the company launched (to great fanfare) the Windows 7 operating system, a Family Pack product was among the software upgrade offerings—three licensed copies of Windows 7 Home Premium for $150, available in the United States and some other countries. Now the family pack is no more. According to the Microsoft Family Pack Web site, the Windows 7 Family Pack offer has ended. Rather abruptly, at that. Bah, humbug. Reads a note on the site, “Thank you for your interest in Windows 7. The Windows 7 Family Pack is now sold out through many of our partners. Please check our other offers…” Timing is everything, and as some other industry bloggers have sniffed, this is no time (before the holidays) to take back a money-savings offer. Let me chime in there, even though Microsoft did warn, back in October, that the $150 deal would expire. Purchasing one retail upgrade of W7 Home Premium is currently priced at $109.49 on Amazon.com. The three-pack deal might return. Or it might not. The family pack concept is not Microsoft’s; Apple has long been selling multi-pack versions of the Leopard and Snow Leopard OS programs.Comments
